Wha-La I present...Hello Kitty

I finished, I finally finished! this was an almost all day project. Only because it was the first time I've done it. The second time around, it will be a breeze. I decided to give you a step-by-step guide to how I put Miss Hello Kitty together.

I first of course made my chocolate cake , then I made a homemade chocolate ganache to put in between the layers, soo delicious!
I put the 2nd layer on top and filled in the area where the layers meet with buttercream icing, this will give it that smooth look once you add the actual frosting for the cake. Let this dry for about 10-15 minutes before adding your frosting.
I then traced my HK onto modeling chocolate or you can use fondant, placed on my cake immediantly after I added my top frosting while it was still wet since buttercream crusts over after a while. You want is to stick.

Then I took my pearl mold sprinkled it with cornstarch and pressed my rolled (in snake form) modeling chocolate into it, getting it in every craves.
And placed around may cake. Its ok if the pearls break apart, just place the pieces next to each other, no one know :)
I then placed then placed the eyes and nose in place, yes I know her nose is not square. My 4 year old daughter who is a huge fan, said  "Ummm...mommy Hello Kitty's nose is not square"

Next I took red modeling chocolate and traced her bow
I then began to fill in her a face and around her eyes and nose, just go around in an oval shape for the nose, Place her bow, then continue with her face. Add the flowers in any order you like
Outline her bow with black buttercream and add her whiskers
I cut a rough oval from modeling chocolate, brushed vanilla over it and sprinkled it with edible gold shimmer, added my message, and a yellow flower.
I added a white boarder, the gold balls are just modeling chocolate balls rolled in the gold shimmer, and buttercream icing used as the glue for the gold balls. Also added  "glue" for the sign.
Finally I added flowers around the outside of the cake all the way around.
And there you have it!
